Douglas Bruce’s “Peasant” comments

Ok, so I am a conservative, however regardless of my beliefs on immigration Representative Bruce’s comments were reprehensible at best.  There are a number of ways to say the same thing without alienating an entire state.

Representative Bruce stated in the Rocky Mountain News “To me it doesn’t matter, if I’m the only person in the building that cares about the truth, fine.”

Mr. Bruce just remember that even if you are paranoid does not mean that they are not out to get you.

Doug, take a breath, get a reality check, maybe kick another photographer.

Tuition would rise by 9.5 percent under Penley proposal

In the Coloradoan today:

Students at Colorado State University will pay 9.5 percent more in tuition next year under a proposal up for approval in June. CSU announced the increase plan after I asked, given that CU approved a tuition increase today.

Woodward sales increase 19 percent

FORT COLLINS — Woodward Governor Co. (Nasdaq: WGOV) on April 21 reported sales for its second fiscal quarter of 2008 were 19 percent higher than the same period one year ago.

Unemployment rate drops for Weld, Larimer counties

The unemployment rate in Weld and Larimer counties dropped slightly in March from the previous month and held steady for the state as a whole, according to a report from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

Beauprez offered Voorhis help 18 months ago

Throughout the Cory Voorhis case, radio talk show host Peter Boyles, who did a tremendous amount of good for Voorhis and for justice by championing Voorhis in the case, never missed a chance to attack Bob Beauprez, accusing him of abandoning Voorhis in his time of greatest need.

Foothills redevelopment in jeopardy

FORT COLLINS — With Dillard’s department store close to an agreement with Centerra in Loveland, Foothills Mall in Fort Collins would lose the linchpin of a proposed redevelopment that could lead to cancellation of the project, several informed sources told Business Report Daily this week.

Earmark system needs reform

Marilyn Musgrave and Mark Udall co authored a soapbox piece in the Coloradoan on congressional earmarks.  While I applaud for both of them for taking a year off all earmarks is that really enough?  In the current election cycle, which will expire during their moratorium, is not a stronger stance needed?
