Marilyn Musgrave and Mark Udall co authored a soapbox piece in the Coloradoan on congressional earmarks. While I applaud for both of them for taking a year off all earmarks is that really enough? In the current election cycle, which will expire during their moratorium, is not a stronger stance needed?

OK, so everyone should be in agreement that in the current economy we (the general collective of officials, business people, and citizens) should be actively looking for new opportunities to create new tax revenue and jobs within our communities.
Here in Fort Collins and Larimer County we are seeing just below a 4% unemployment rate as of December 2007. So when a proposal is garnered that could produce the opportunity to bring in new business, should not this be something that the "non-partisan" council would embrace with open arms? I believe they should. Shame on you Poppaw, Manvel, Roy, and Ohlson.
